New Farmers. The CAP and the challanges of European Agriculture – the walnut cultivation

60-year-old Alessandro Annibali, belongs to an ancient generation of entrepreneurs and land owners. His dad Eiliano used to run a company specialising in the processing and selling of seeds, from which was born the company Annibali is currently the managing director of. But at the end of the 90s, young Alessandro, overflowing with ideas and lover of the countryside, decided to dive into a new adventure: the cultivation of walnut: which benefit from the ideal conditions in Emilia-Romagna (Italian region). Starting on only 20.000 sq ms of land- 250 hectares today,-half of which his property and half shared with a few farmers, he has been cultivating this fruit with the desire to create a large production chain and an excellence hub for the production of walnuts.
