New Farmers. The CAP and the challanges of European Agriculture – automation

33-year-old Fabio Curto, runs his family business Pontevecchio, founded in the ‘50s by his grandad Sebastiano, inside an old mill close to the bridge which, crossing the Piave river, joins the flatland in Treviso to the Valdobbiadene (Veneto Italian region). The family business on 300 hectares, divided between hills and grazing land on Mount Cesen, produces corn, sorghum, medicinal herb fodder and straw of various kinds, allocated to the breeding of 50 pigs, 280 milk cattle, mostly of pardo breed , and 50 meat cattle. Apart from the livestock, the company with its permanent 10 collaborators, focuses on dairy production, agri-tourism activities and wine making. He introduced robotisation in the stables downstream from the company
