New Farmers 2019/2020: Sustainable cattle breeding in Upper Mugello
New Farmers: the CAP and the challanges of European Agriculture. 2019/2020
In Firenzuola, a few kilometers from Florence (Tuscany) we meet Valeria Bruni Giordani who runs an organic cattle farm. The area is that of Mugello, a territory on the border between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna. Valeria turned from news reporter to entrepreneurship at the end of the 1990s, taking over together with her mother Elisabetta and her grandmother Vanda, the management of the company set up by her granddad Guido. At an altitude of 780 meters on the slopes of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, she raises cattle: around 230 animals among suckler cows, bulls and young bulls, according to the organic method for the production of beef, as well as carrying out farm touring activities.
